1. WHERE IS THE NEXT BOOK IN XYZ SERIES?

If there isn’t an official date noted on the books page, there isn’t one confirmed.

​

I know waiting for a new book in an incomplete series can be frustrating, but please understand that life happens, and I work around my disability. Sometimes I can write a large first draft in a month, but at other times my writing slows to a couple days in a week.

​​

Further, being immunocompromised makes illness/colds hit harder and/or last longer than usual—which can also hinder my writing progress. (would you want to write about demons railing each other through the mattress while coughing up a lung? I didn’t think so.)

​​

I ask that you please be patient while I work to make the next book the best it can possibly be for you to devour. I'd rather delay a book than release it early and disappoint.

 

Also, let’s be real: I write big honking books, so in the time it takes me to do one, other authors might have two. ;)

2. WHAT IS YOUR WRITING ROUTINE LIKE?

​

Dr Pepper Zero and music fueled. The schedule is chaotic. Often through the small hours and past sunrise.

 

I plop myself in my "nest" (recliner bundled in a blanket, laptop in my lap, fan aimed at me on high, drink on the table beside me, sometimes snacks before I start since I forget to eat while working) and have my screen split with my writing on the right and either Spotify with music or Youtube with random videos playing on the left.

Sometimes, I'll sit and write on my phone while watching Youtube videos with my husband on the TV. I get lots of ideas when writing on the phone, and some of reader's favorite scenes come from random phone moments.

​

3. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT WRITING?

​

I'm a homebody, so I spend my free time playing video games with my husband and friends (World of Warcraft, Phasmophobia, Meccha Chameleon, Parkitect are on regular rotation), reading in my nest, drawing or painting digitally and traditionally.

​

4. CAN I JOIN THE ARC/STREET TEAM?

​

I open applications for the teams after a release of a series/duet/trilogy to prepare for the next one. So make sure you're signed up for the newsletter to know when the applications go live!

5. CAN I MAKE FANART OF YOUR CHARACTERS OR SCENES?

​

Yes! Absolutely! Please feel free to tag me if you share it online!

6. WILL YOU FINISH THE BLACKTHORN SAGA?

​

Yes! I plan to return to my debut series. The reason for the original hiatus was being in the red for investment on the series, so I started writing the Elyrdin Fate trilogy with self-edits to hopefully fund my editor for the Blackthorn Saga since I wanted to keep using her until the end.

​

But then I went viral and my entire life changed. But I needed to finish what I started. Also, with the switch to first person POV and more adult over new adult, I found myself loving this pivot and it's been well received, especially with the evolution of my writing from my debut book and book 5 of the saga. 

 

That said, I will go back and finish the series for fans of the series and myself since I do love these characters and have plans for a spin-off (adult and first person POV) that can't happen without finishing the Blackthorn Saga.

7. WHY DO YOU CALL YOUR READERS YOUR "MURDER MATES"?

​

This was my husband's idea! I wanted something related to crows since corvids are one of my favorite animals and I put their imagery throughout my books, branding, and publishing imprint Amethyst Corvid Press.
 

But what does murder and mates have to do with crows?  Well, a group of crows is called a murder. A group of ravens is called a conspiracy or unkindness. I didn't want to name my readers either as is, so that's when my husband suggested Murder Mates. I thought it great considering almost all of my stories revolve around fated mates and crows mate for life. It was perfect!

8. WHY MENTAL HEALTH AND TRAUMA REPRESENTATION?

​

Because it means a lot to me. I struggled a lot growing up with mental health and neurodevelopmental disabilities. I also intimately understand the effects of trauma on the mind, body, spirit, and heart.

​

There isn't a lot of mental health and neurodevelopmental disorder representation in romance books, and even less in paranormal romance and fantasy worlds. That seems to be changing, but when I decided to make this "my thing" I did it because I wanted others to see themselves in these fantastical worlds.

 

I wanted readers to see that no matter what struggles they go through, there is love and happiness waiting for them. Not always a romantic interest, but even through the found family trope. I want readers to know they aren't alone and I understand them because I am them. If they can connect with a character I've crafted and it helps them, even just a little, then it's all worth it to me.

 

I also feel in writing these topics, readers who don't live with any of these conditions can peer through the lens of what its like and maybe find a greater understanding for their friends, family, and the strangers they meet.

9. WHY "BE YOU. THEY'LL ADJUST"?

​

Because I saw the mantra on a YouTube video years ago and it resonated with me.

 

I often write about characters who try to be who everyone wants them to be and never quite fitting until they find their people—their found family and/or romantic interest. And why does it work when they find them? Because they are able to take off the mask and be true to themselves. 

​

When these characters decide to give themselves the space to be who they are and not what the world wants them to be, they find peace. These characters aren't neurotypical, so it's unfair of others to demand they live like they are. They are given the space to mess up, fix things, and try again without being abandoned, punished, or made to feel less than. They are given the opportunity to learn what they need to adjust and where its okay to unmask.

 

Like my characters, I decided to live this truth myself years ago. And you know what? I've never been happier.

 

So every time you open your signed book and see that message, I want you to take it as a sign to be true to yourself. Your people will find you.
